First Blockchain Smartphone is Here

There’s a new kid on the blockchain and he goes by the name Motif. This new and upcoming smart phone looks no different than your typical smartphone. As we all know, it’s not what’s on the outside that matters, but what’s on the inside that truly counts.

Armed with its latest operating system (OS), Zippie, this system gives its users rewards in tokens whenever users perform certain activities on their Motif smart phones. These include activities like sharing personal data, purchasing items online, etc.

The tokens earn through these activities are stored on your own personal Motif Digital wallet, secured on blockchain. Users can then spend tokens by utilizing a Motif debit card. No bank account required!

Motif smart phones will be released to the market in fall of 2018 and will cost anywhere between $350 – $395. According to the press release, users will be able to transfer their money (presumably tokens) anywhere in the world without any additional charges.

Even if consumers don’t exactly embrace blockchain smartphones initially, this will more than likely introduce more blockchain smartphones to the US market in the near future.

Another consumer electronics developer, Sirin Labs, has developed a blockchain smartphone specifically designed for consumers, called Finney . This smart phone specializes in enabling users to both spend and store cryptocurrency. Sales will start in only a select few nations including Turkey and Vietnam by October 2018.

The CEO of Sirin stated that if demand is as high as expected, many other blockchain smartphone companies will follow in their lead, thus creating competition for iPhones and Samsung Galaxies within the US market.
