BitPay Allows Bitcoin Cash as Payment at Retail Outlets

BitPay, the crypto payment service provider, announced today that they will allow retail businesses to use Bitcoin Cash for payments. The new service will now allow customers the option to pay in both Bitcoin (BTC) or Bitcoin Cash (BCH).

BitPay is currently used by retail businesses and restaurants in Atlanta, Toronto, St. Petersburg, Madeira Beach and Paris, since 2014. Other online eCommerce companies that utilize BitPay like Shopify, 3DCart and Bitmonet will also find the integration very favorable.

When customers decide to pay through BitPay they simply select the currency of their choice, option for a tip, scan the QR code with their mobile wallets, and they’re done.

Payments just take a swipe or tap of a button in order for merchants to convert their cryptocurrency into local fiat currency within 1 business day. BitPay receives a low 1% processing fee for each transaction.

BitPay decided to upgrade their system last month to accept Bitcoin Cash, which was the first time an altcoin was included by the company. BitPay states that integrating Bitcoin Cash into small-scale transactions would only cost pennies or less for customers to send.

Bitcoin Cash, has once again increased by over 20% cents the announcement. The 4th largest cryptocurrency is now up by over 100% in one week. The market cap has doubled within the last seven days, increasing from $12 billion-$24 billion
